The tool reads a standard SRT subtitle file and supplies it to FFmpeg as a subtitle filter while processing the video. The current implementation writes the selected source into the browser FFmpeg filesystem, loads the SRT file, renders the subtitle filter and creates output.mp4. Actual input compatibility depends on the codecs that the browser FFmpeg build can decode.
SubRip (.srt) is a text-based subtitle format containing numbered captions, time ranges and subtitle text. Correct timing and valid SRT structure are important because the rendering engine follows those timestamps.
The current CyberTools Hardcode Subtitles workflow produces an MP4 result after subtitle rendering. A familiar filename extension does not guarantee that every unusual source codec can be decoded by the browser processing environment.
CyberTools uses FFmpeg compiled for browser-compatible processing. The selected video and SRT file are written into FFmpeg’s temporary virtual filesystem. FFmpeg then applies its subtitles video filter with the chosen font size and color before generating the MP4 result.
A hardcoded subtitle is not merely attached as metadata. The letters must be drawn into the actual video frames. Because those pixels change, the video image has to be rendered again. This is fundamentally different from adding a selectable subtitle track to a container.
Hardcoding requires the video frames to be rendered again because subtitle pixels are added to the picture. Re-encoding can change file size, codec characteristics or visual quality depending on the processing settings and source. Keep the original video until you have reviewed and accepted the output.
The Hardcode Subtitles workspace is designed around browser-compatible FFmpeg processing. The video and subtitle data are handled through the browser media workflow used by the tool rather than requiring a conventional desktop video editor. Keep the page open while an active render is running and retain your source files until you have verified the result.
Once rendered, the subtitle pixels are part of the picture. To create a version without them, return to the original video.
